Grove City activities span the calendar. Sledding, ice skating, and cross-country skiing make the most of frosty temps and pristine snow. And since true adventure aficionados don’t sit inside all winter, we want to detail where you can make the most of a #winterweatheradventure in Grove City.
Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is the largest of the Central Ohio Metro Parks. While it’s most well-known for its bison habitat and expansive nature center, there’s still plenty to do when the temperature drops. Winter-weather offerings include a half-acre 16-inch deep ice-skating/hockey pond; sledding spots; and Dyer Mill Trail, a 3.2-mile trail for cross-country skiing. Although hiking is available year-round, you can join the ever-popular Metro Park Annual Winter Hike Series.
Scioto Grove Metro Park is the Central Ohio Metro Parks system’s newest park. If you’re brave enough for winter canoeing and/or kayaking, Scioto Grove supplies two access points. A sledding hill is available for winter fun near Backpacking Site #2 – part of the park’s REI River Trail. (From April-October the REI River Trail is available for urban backpacking adventures). Scioto Grove’s other unique offerings include a 3D archery range and their new drone flight zone.
LVL UP Sports is the perfect place for your atypical winter adventures with their winter open play hours running on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (their proshop remaining open until 6:00 pm). Private group reservations are available 7 days a week. While you’re there be sure to check out Valken Village, home to New World Kingdom, the largest playable paintball structure in all of Ohio!
While Gantz Park may be best known for their beautiful Gardens at Gantz during warmer seasons, cold weather adventure can still be had throughout the park. Gantz Park’s sledding hill and various walkable trails will have you appreciating winter beauty.

Fryer Park contains Grove City’s largest sledding hill, along with plenty of fields to play in the snow. If you’re looking to keep warm, consider taking a blacksmithing class at the Augenstein-Spillman Blacksmith Shop, within the park’s Century Village.
