Visit Grove City launched the Trailblazers in 2017 to celebrate the Grove City tourism community and honor the people, places, and organizations that make it successful.

We believe a “Trailblazer” is someone or something that forges a path of greatness and guides others along the way. The Trailblazer Awards include three categories: individual, business or attraction and community event. This summer, we will be highlighting our inaugural Trailblazers!

The 2017 Attraction Trailblazer Award-winning attraction is one that creates the most memorable visitor experience. Scioto Grove Metro Park is not only a beautiful escape from bustling streets, but a huge draw for visitors. With Franklin County Metroparks’ first opportunity for overnight camping, this featured metro park boasts over 600 acres of land, opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and hiking. A unique feature happens to be interactive archery ranges that include a 3D range!

Deputy Director Larry Peck noted that Metro Parks was “thrilled to get the award. Parks are never done and there’s more to come. Metro Parks is pleased that the community considers Scioto Grove Metro Park is an asset to Grove City”.

Metro Park frequenter and nominator, Sarah Lilly, said it best, “Scioto Grove Metro Park is one of Grove City’s strongest tourism assets. Metro Parks did a phenomenal job restoring and transforming a large swath of green space for current and future generations to enjoy. They continue to develop and improve the park.”

Scioto Grove Metro Park stands out from other metro parks for several reasons.  It is the only metro park in Central Ohio to allow overnight camping.  Adventure seekers may extend their stay and expand their horizons as they enjoy Grove City’s great outdoors. Another draw for the outdoor leisure travel market is the REI River Trail, sponsored by the outdoor retailer, REI. Executives from REI visited Grove City from Seattle for the park’s grand opening in May 2016. Scioto Grove Metro Park’s river access means visitors may not only camp at the park but enjoy kayaking and canoeing down Scioto River.

Anglers enjoy fishing on the Scioto River and also on the pond year round while the sledding hill is available for winter fun. Whether it’s archery, disc golf, and/or backpacking, Scioto Grove Metro Park is truly a trailblazing attraction for all.
