Spring is here! As nature wakes up from its winter slumber, it is a great time to enjoy all the special things nature provides while considering how our actions impact the natural world. Celebrating Earth Day is an annual reminder to focus on ways we can make a difference while having fun!

Join Grove City Parks and Recreation and many community partners 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Fryer Park, 3899 Orders Road, for the 2022 Grove City Earth Day Celebration! The event includes a variety of activities including info booths, games, and challenges like a scavenger hunt, fun and useful giveaways, fishing, interacting with animals and so much more! Stop by one of several food trucks for refreshments. Most of the activities are located near Rotary Lake and the Eagle Pavilion, 3670 Discovery Dr., but some adventures include other areas of the park.

Did you know that just one tree can contribute enough oxygen to support a family of four for an entire day? Do your part to add a tree to Fryer Park by joining Mayor Richard L. “Ike” Stage as he officiates the Arbor Day planting at 11 a.m. along Discover Drive across from the Eagle Pavilion. Toss a shovelful of dirt over the roots, then watch it grow taller every time you visit the park for years to come.

Participating organizations include The Bugman, Hinton Apiaries, Class2Trail, SWACO, the Gardens at Gantz Farm Volunteers, Keep Grove City Beautiful, Columbus and Franklin County MetroParks, the Grove City YMCA, Grove City Tree Commission and Grove City Service Department.

Participating in the Keep Grove City Beautiful Cleanup that day? Stop by after for more eco-friendly fun!

Call the Parks and Recreation office at 614-277-3050, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., for more information.
