America 250 Celebration Continues This Fall in Grove City
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through Grove City’s yearlong America 250 celebration. Since January, we’ve been celebrating our nation’s history while highlighting the people, places, and traditions that make Grove City such a special place to call home. We kicked off the year with a historic bus tour, celebrated kids and innovation in February, explored the women who helped shape Grove City in March, revved things up in April with Red, White & Vroom, and welcomed readers to the inaugural Grove City Book Festival in May. Throughout the year, we’ve continued discovering the stories that have shaped our community.
But we’re not done yet.
There’s still plenty to celebrate this fall as our monthly America 250 themes continue with family-friendly events, community traditions, and opportunities to get involved.
August: Ohio Goes to the Fair
August celebrates one of Ohio’s favorite traditions: county fairs, festivals and, of course, the Ohio State Fair.
Join us for one of Grove City’s newest events, the Olde Time Fair, where history comes to life at Century Village.
The event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 22, from noon to 4 p.m. at Century Village at Fryer Park, 4185 Orders Road.
Step back into the early 1800s and enjoy an afternoon of old-fashioned carnival games, hands-on crafts, carousel rides, food trucks, tours of Century Village’s historic buildings and plenty of family fun. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for live entertainment throughout the afternoon.
The entertainment lineup features the America 250 Red, White & Blue Toadstool Shadow Quartet from noon to 2 p.m., followed by the Ohio Village Muffins vintage baseball game from 2 to 4 p.m. Watch America’s pastime the way it was played in the 1860s before enjoying music from The Village Pickers Band.
While you're there, explore Century Village with a self-guided tour of the Orders Road Schoolhouse, Grove City’s historic train depot, log cabins, general store, blacksmith shop and traditional farm buildings.
Admission is free, and all ages are welcome!
Labor Day Weekend Celebration
The patriotic fun continues over Labor Day weekend as Grove City lights up the night with its annual drone show celebration at Beulah Park, 3700 Glacial Lane.
Bring the family, grab a blanket, and enjoy a free showing of National Treasure beginning at 6:30 p.m. Then, at 8:45 p.m., look to the sky as hundreds of drones create a patriotic display.
It’s the perfect way to wrap up summer while continuing our America 250 celebration.
September: Ohio Plays
In September, the focus shifts to sports, recreation, and wellness with the theme "Ohio Plays."
One highlight is the mayor’s annual Pickleball Open. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just learning the game, it’s a fun way to get active, connect with others and enjoy a little friendly competition. Registration is open now, so grab a partner and join the fun.
Looking Ahead
October celebrates Ohio’s food and farming heritage with the theme "Ohio Grows." November honors veterans, first responders and frontline heroes, while December looks to the future as we imagine what Ohio could look like in 2076.

And here’s the best part: the celebration doesn’t end when the calendar turns.
In 2027, Grove City will celebrate its 175th anniversary - its quasquicentennial - marking 175 years since William F. Breck laid out what would become the Village of Grove City in 1852.
It’s another exciting milestone in our community’s history, and plans are already underway to commemorate the occasion.
There’s still plenty to celebrate in 2026, with even more to look forward to in 2027. We hope you’ll join us as we continue honoring our past, celebrating our present and looking ahead to the future of Grove City.
